2012 - Our Olympic City
A collaboration between Greenwich & Lewisham Young People’s Theatre and Creative Partnerships London East & South
Two Greenwich schools, Linton Mead Primary School and Woolwich Polytechnic School (secondary school), have created two short films inspired by the forthcoming 2012 Olympic Games that are coming to London.
The students have used this process to explore their responses to the Olympics, their aspirations, and how they think this will affect their city.
30 Year 5 students have created the film – Zeus TV and 7 Year 11 students have created – 2012 Views. A team of arts facilitators, film makers and animators worked with the young people and their teachers developing their ideas, creating the narrative and shooting and producing the films.
Zeus TV is a documentary-style drama, including footage of young people participating in workshops and performances of devised scenes. This also explores where they expect to be in 5 years time.
2012 Views is a short film comprising interviews led by the students, to present a range of views on the 2012 Olympics.
