The Photographers’ Gallery Project

Capturing dance and sports motion through photography

user uploaded image

Action cameras that track motion? Cameras with four and eight lenses?
These unconventional cameras have enabled secondary school students to capture the sequence of an action, combining subject areas such as Art & design, Physical Education & Dance. From teachers to students, all have been surprised and excited by the photomotion project. Everyone has worked hard, filling the project with creative ideas that make connections with the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games theme through innovative photography.

Project photographers Adam and Julia have worked alongside teachers and students over the 2006/7 Summer Term to realise photomotion. This project , commissioned by Creative Partnerships London East and South, was organised by The Photographers’ Gallery as part of its off-site project work with schools. Many thanks for everyone’s enthusiasm and creative work!
