Five Minute Opera
Tuke School, Sonic Arts Network and English Touring Opera are working together to develop an intensive arts experience for special needs students. Through the creation of a short opera in order to extend awareness of accessibility and inclusion.

What’s the Big Idea?
Antidote and the University of East London are working with students at Thomas Tallis School to help them shape the emotional and physical architecture of the new school due to be built under the government’s Building Schools for the Future initiative. This will enable all students to have a richer and more enjoyable learning experience.

Make Believe Arts is working with teachers at Marvels Lane Primary School to explore the teaching of maths through storytelling and drama in order to help them deliver a creative maths curriculum.

Starting School - Memories and Desires
Musician John Webb, Age Exchange and Cloth of Gold are working with teachers, parents and pupils at Millennium Primary School to explore experiences of starting and settling into school through reminiscence, musical and visual arts activities that develop cultural awareness and a sense of community at the school.

Who Am I?
Pupils at Sandhurst Junior School are working with Dulwich Picture Gallery and philosopher Peter Worsley on a project exploring cultural and personal identity through the use of philosophical discussion, debate through communities of enquiry, and artistic expression.

Pupils at Sudbourne Primary School are working with The Place and Music for Change to explore the cultural heritage of the school community using dance, story telling, drumming and research to establish their sense of pride and identity.

Peckham - Our Point of View
Creative director Eugene Skeef and filmmaker Sam Woolf are working with pupils at Gloucester Primary School to create short films which explore the history, geography and culture of their local area using interviewing techniques, music, filming and editing in order to develop their language skills.

Independent Photography and students at Kidbrooke School are working in four different subject areas to explore their feelings and views about personal identity and the identity of the school using digital media and sound.

Aboriginal Myth and Second World War Stories
Trinity Laban is working with Marvels Lane Primary School to develop pupils’ skills to express their learning about two curriculum topics, Aboriginal Myth and Second World War stories. They will use music and dance to increase their confidence in composition, choreography and performance.

The London College of Communication and pupils at Dog Kennel Hill Primary School are using the Environment topic to develop students’ creative writing and printmaking skills and explore the interdependence and relationships between these two artistic forms.

Supporting Student Voice Through the School Magazine
Students from Dunraven School are working with Young at Art to develop journalism and photography techniques in order to assist them in the creation of a sustainable school magazine as an outlet for student voice.

Pupils from Gallions Mount Primary school are working with Trinity College of Music on a project using the theme of water as a stimulus to gain knowledge, skills and experience in music composition and performance.

Half Moon Young People’s Theatre is working with Thomas Buxton Infants School, Thomas Buxton Junior School and St Anne’s Primary School, a non Creative Partnership school, to create a theatre and drama programme that encourages pupils to become interested in who their neighbours are.

Students at Archbishop Michael Ramsey Technology College are working with filmmakers from Eelyn Lee Productions Ltd on a cross-curricular project exploring the local environment to raise awareness of environmental issues, and address how they can make a difference to where they live and learn.

Developing a New Identity for a New School
Team Inspiration, photographer Holly Warburton and Design Heroine are working with students at Charles Edward Brooke School to explore their diverse cultures and identities through topics such as design, dance genres, fashion and writing to ensure they are represented and feel a sense of ownership and pride in their new school building.

Accessing the Curriculum Through Drama
Make Believe Arts is working with Dalmain Primary School on a project which demonstrates how the curriculum can be accessed in a stimulating way. They will use drama to enhance pupils’ speaking and listening skills, build their confidence in a variety of subject areas and engage their parents more fully in school work.

Spirit of Shapla
Pupils and staff at Shapla Primary School are working with sculptor Clare Burnett to design, create and position a permanent artwork in the playground, enriching the curriculum through Personal Social Health and Citizenship Education and developing pupils’ understanding of the wider community.

Emotional Well Being
Using a variety of digital technologies in cross-curricular ways, students and staff at Stoke Newington School will work with media production company Somethin’ Else. The project will focus on emotional well being, how it, is delivered in the school and how it can positively impact on teachers’ and students’ teaching and learning skills.

Working with Design Heroine and Soda Creative Ltd, Stormont House School is exploring virtual and physical spaces where students, staff, parents, governors, creative partners and the wider community can access what is being learnt and how it is being taught at the school.

Creative Connections
Pupils and staff at Monega Primary School are working with Emergency Exit Arts to develop ways in which the school can draw on a previous project, where cultural and visual artefacts were created and displayed on four themed staircases to create exciting lessons in history and geography.

Students at Lister Community School are working with Soda Creative Ltd to develop video diaries looking at ways in which the outside spaces within the new school building can be technologically enhanced to support the expression and development of student voice.

New City Primary School is working with Discover to develop ways of using the reception outdoor play spaces in more imaginative and creative ways, focusing on motivation and enthusiasm for creative teaching and learning.

Sadlers’ Wells is working with Robert Blair Primary School on a ballet, flamenco and katak dance project that aims to motivate pupils, and boys in particular, to engage with dance as a challenging and new physical activity.

Solar Scale
Year 7 students and their maths and science teachers at Islington Green School are working with Kinetika to design and create a versatile scale installation of the solar system made out of fibreglass rods. This semi permanent installation will be a learning resource used by future years.

Staff and pupils at Jubilee Primary School are working with researcher Anna Craft and visual artist Sophia Lovell Smith to explore how creativity within literacy and creative spaces within the school might be assessed, and how progression in creative learning could be defined.

Ghost School
Using digital technology, poetry and model making, pupils and staff at Lauriston Primary School are working with poet Shedman, visual artist Sue Ridge and architect Julia Dwyer to create a ‘ghost’ of the current school building before it is demolished and rebuilt in 2009.

Hermitage Primary School is working with artists from East-Side Educational Trust to embed the planning and delivery of art and design, drama and English subjects creatively by using textiles, forum theatre and poetry.

Apples & Snakes is working with students at Daniel House to create a series of spoken word tracks exploring the theme of ‘what I know, what I think, what I’d like to know’, which will be produced as a CD and culminate in a final performance.

Columbia Primary School is working with visual artists Savinder Bual and Stephanie Gill, using digital photography to support the school’s aim to engage pupils in learning, understanding and talking and thinking together.

Turbulence
City and Islington College is working with Artsadmin to embed professional production and management skills in both students and staff, and establish the identity of four existing performing arts groups, Raw Skills, Rouge, Candid and See and Eye Music. The project will culminate in a performance in March 2007.

Students as Researchers - Students at Central Foundation Girls’ School are working with Bedfordshire Schools Improvement Partnership to gain skills in interview techniques, classroom dialogue and lesson observation in order to empower them to work with teachers in setting targets and exploring how practice can be improved.

Bow Arts Trust is working with students and staff at Bow School to create an identity for the Heritage building, home to the humanities departments at the school, in the form of large hanging banners.

Xchange
This programme creates the opportunity for young people working in our core schools to apply for up to £1,000 to realise a change in their school. Working with Tower Hamlets Summer University, the kinds of things that young people are thinking about changing include the way schools use the internet and the atmosphere in the school canteen. However, watch this space as projects develop and we see what changes young people are making across their schools.
